Top 10 Verses to Meditate on as You Work

As writers and communicators, there are days our messages flow from our pens with absolute ease. You know the moments when everything on your schedule lines up and inspiration is a train you ride with clarity and passion.

But more often than not, we have to kick into disciplined rhythms to release those words that seem to be fleeting into the space where lost socks, hair ties and the backs of earrings go. Our thoughts appear as wisps of ideas that are hard to pull down.

Sometimes we just need more than a practiced routine: we need to refocus at the core. Discouraging lies could be bombarding you into silence. Or maybe imposter syndrome attempts to sneak up and sink your ship before you can get sailing. At Called Creatives, we believe that what we release through our creative work are not just random hobbies. We are called to steward these creative gifts well and there is no better place to receive encouragement than from the Creator, himself. His words of truth will dismantle any lies that may be stumbling blocks to you continuing—and eventually, finishing—well.

The next time you find yourself in need of some inspiration or encouragement to continue, meditate on one or all of these ten verses. God is faithful to meet us where we are to get our hearts in alignment with His.  From there our words become the overflow.

  1. “Let this be recorded for future generations, so that a people not yet born will praise the Lord.” Psalms 102:18 NLT
  2. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” —Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV
  3. “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” —Galatians 6:9 ESV
  4. “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” —2 Timothy 1:6-7 ESV
  5. “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” —Psalm 37:5 ESV
  6. “I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.” —Psalms 94:18-19 NLT
  7. “Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.” —Psalms 96:3 NLT
  8. “so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” —Isaiah 55:11 NIV
  9. “Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.” —Ephesians 5:17 NLT
  10. How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns! —Isaiah 52:7 NLT
